Creativity is applied imagination.

Being creative means creating, bringing the invisible and unknown to life.

Spontaneity and playfulness, overcoming design blocks. The threshold is the first stroke on a blank sketchbook page to bring into being something whose form and purpose we do not yet know.

It takes shape without prejudice, without knowing the purpose. This is where it comes to light and it makes sense. Spontaneous design, the transformation from doodle to striking design concept.

Planets, universes, islands

Clock spring inspired landscapes.

Inherently Sustainable

Ecology and sustainability as inspiration and not as an afterthought or technical addition.

Sustainability through design requires a rethinking of the design process. The seminar practices the development of a sustainable design strategy, an ethical concept, beyond the technological possibilities.

For inspiration, we will reflect on the principles once inherent in vernacular architecture.

Local architecture has all the characteristics of sustainability. A replica of a Bronze Age Celtic building.

Ethereal Spaces

Designing for the unseen, unknown:

soothing, healing and inspiring. Architecture serves and accompanies all aspects of human needs.

In this seminar engage with design beyond the mundane and functional. We take inspiration from exceptional and mind-changing spaces we personally experienced.

A deep thought, a poem, a piece of music can trigger the metamorphosis into a built form, an ethereal space.

Some of the most extraordinary spaces were designed during the so-called brutalist period. Extraordinary spatial experience: Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral.
